Field Day Fun

field-day-1
Fun was had by all who attended the TWC Field day saturday morning. Games includes, "pool noodle - beach ball polo", target casting (fishing), water balloon catch, balloon race, tug -o- war, and the grand finale -water relay, obstacle race. Barclay and Ruben even had some fun with a bit of soccor playing before retiring to the shade. The boys won a few, but the girls got the most points, even with the tug-0-war. Metals and ribbions were handed out and winners photos taken. We had some great exercise and fun. Thanks to all all who came out to participate and to our volunteer judges Rick & Deb E. Good memories made!

Canada's 150 celebrated

dog-020
Wow - camp was full this weekend and all had a great time celebrating for our nation. Pretty much every site was sporting some flag or decorations for the weekend. Camp was looking pretty spiffy. Our campfire celebration had great attendance, all our 40+ chairs where used from the rec hall. Prizes were awared to people who correctly answered Canadian trivia questions. There where many laughs and a few things learned from the quiz. Some new acqantances were formed and old ones renewed. A good time was had by all! Special thank you to Hank V for being our fire "master" and Deb & Dave H for use of his decorative fire ring.

What another great year for trick or treating at Trillium Woods Campground. There was lots of spooky fun to be had around camp. It took us a good hour to get around to all the sites, there where that many treats being handed out. A lot of spooky sites as well. It made the judging a little more difficult, but the event a whole lot more fun. I would like to thank all the Volunteer judges and photographers. Without you the event would not be successful and a lot less pictures to show. Your time was very much appreciated by all. For best decorated site the awards went to C & B Suter, site 94. Second place went to Site 54 – Habermell’s, with an honorable mention to site 32 – Thornton’s. Best Adult costume was B & S Habermell, who defended their title from last year. Second was R. Major in his Warrior costume. Notable mention when to “Hula Girls” C. Parent & A. Ryan and “Dorothy” C. Zurek. Best kid costume under 6 went to “Pocahontas” (A.Olds), with second going to the “Ice Princess” (A.Woodrow). Honorable mention went to the Dragon (M. Major) who was hanging out with...

A small but fun loving group participated in the Field day held by the rec. hall at Trillium Woods Campground on July 16, 2016.  First a big thanks to volunteers Rick, Deb, Debbie & Dave without whom I could not have done with out. Our first race, the three legged race was ran in a couple of heats, to accomidate some late comers, but in the end two girls (O & A) won the race with some stiff competion. Dee & Debbie were a close second, with S & M third. Then we moved onto the wheel barrow race where again O & A crossed first, with Dave & Debbie coming in second. There where alot of laughs with that one. The egg race - a few heat where run with this one, due to misplaced eggs and spoons flying, but in the end M won, with her mom S coming in a close second. Then paricipants had a small break while we set up for the obstacle course for the water relay race. The obstacle course consisted of weave poles, run around a chair, then a small jump over a stick, then cardboard box. We had a few more kids...

Merry New Year !

Merry New Year !

b2ap3_thumbnail_deer.jpg
Looking back at 2015, we had a busy year. We did a lot of upgrades and additions to the campground. Robin and Stuart rebuilt the play set at the beach, we ordered and installed a new play structure for the playground and upgraded a few things around camp. We also got railing added to the front veranda of the house – to serve as an outdoor playpen for Dylan and bug free internet space for our campers. It served its purpose very well. Campers and Dylan spent hours out there. Dylan had a lot of 4- 8 year old girls come to play with him throughout the summer. We had our young lad and teenage babysitter back to help us this summer. Also R & S helped and babysat a fair bit and we were so glad for the extra help, due to the camp being so very busy. We were full most of July and August and this fall have had a number of new seasonal campers sign up, so we will have higher occupancy for next year already. Dylan is keeping us busy too, boy can he move now, and keeps us on our toes. He...

2015 TWC Halloween In The Park by Judy C.          Being our first season at TWC as “Seasonals” we weren’t sure exactly what to expect during the annual “Halloween in The Park” at Trillium Woods. Who does Halloween in September? However, we were in happy anticipation as we went shopping for Halloween treats and decorations in early August, so we would be right and ready for the event on Saturday September 5 th , Labour Day weekend. Can you imagine the strange looks we received in early August as we inquired as to where the stores’ Halloween supplies might be. Fortunately, we were aware that dollar type stores, often have their goods for any upcoming holiday event out on the shelves sometimes two months or more ahead of the event. At the dollar store we were greeted with a whole isle (soon to be two ) of Halloween paraphernalia, from gaudy body parts to fuzzy hanging spider webs (complete with fuzzy spider/s), as well as gummy eye balls and a host of other, hopefully tasty, Trick or Treat selections. Real pumpkins were nowhere to be had, but we did find some outdoor strings of pumpkin lights. The early...

This past weekend was the 2 nd Pig Roast@ TWC and it was as good as the first. We had a few less in numbers, but that just meant fuller tummies and was made up for in good memories. More people came out to watch the pig be “basted & roasted” and then later enjoy the full flavor of a potluck meal. There was a great variety of dishes and no one went away hungry. After there was a prize draw that saw many of the kids with happy faces as they picked up their prize. All prizes were donated by the Harris family of London Home Hardware, Vanvugt and McIntyre family. A huge thank you to the Vanvugt and McIntyre families & friends for all their efforts in organizing, decorating and co-ordinating this event. Also a shout out to the man wearing the coconut bra, – still laughing at that sight.

Saturday July 4th marked the first Family Field Day held at TWC. The usual serene atmosphere of the campground was somewhat interrupted with cheers of encouragement to the athletes and yells of congratulations for the winners! The event was organized by Judy (Site 20) with the assistance of a number of capable and keen volunteers. The event was met with sunny weather, blue sky, and warm temperatures (almost too warm!), just what the Doctor ordered. It was gratifying to see the smiling faces on all the participants, adults and kids alike, as everyone was having a good time. In many cases the younger participants had never participated in an “old time” Field Day, with sack races and the like, so parents and older participants were seen trying to demonstrate the finer points of wheel barrow racing etc. to their younger team members. The last event, the “Water Relay Race” was particularly fun to watch, as it was “organized chaos” at best. Six teams of four persons each (mixed adults and kids), participated in the Relay. The goal was to be the team with the most water left in the cup at the end of the four “legs” of the Relay....

The 2015 TWC Scavenger Hunt, held on a sunny Saturday June 13 th , was a resounding success, with a total of 20 people participating. There were six teams of adults, and two kid’s teams. Prizes were awarded to the Winners of the Adult Teams: H and L (Sites 60/63) and to the Winners of the Kids Teams: O, M, J, and M (Site 36/77). Congratulations to all those who participated; your enthusiasm and laughter were infectious! Also thanks to A of “The Licorice Group” for acting as the “official photographer” and to A (Site 20), M and A (Site 22) and F (Site 15) for volunteering to assist, and to all who helped clean up and put away at the end of the event.      The next 2015 TWC Event will be held on Saturday July 4 th , from 2pm to 5pm. This is the Canada Day Family Field Day, which will consist of a number of “old-time” fun events such as sack races, wheelbarrow races etc., for both adults and kids. All campers and guests are welcome, come and participate or come and cheer on your favourites! There will be a modest registration fee of $1 per person,...

Land-ho: The best views in Grey Bruce

Land-ho: The best views in Grey Bruce
Land-ho: The best views in Grey Bruce By Nelson Phillips , Wiarton Echo Tuesday, March 31, 2015 9:27:45 EDT AM Last July, I wrote a piece entitled “The top 6 local swimming spots,” wherein I lightheartedly refused to outright give the locations away to the seasonal visitors, using local nicknames and location descriptions rather than blatantly providing Google map coordinates.  For this, I’m happy. I’m still content with my decision. With all the hoopla over Sauble paid parking lately, I’ll re-post that column on our website for those who have forgotten that while Sauble is indeed awesome - the Bruce is literally covered in immaculate watering holes that are off the beaten path, and don’t require your change.  But look-outs? I’ll happily share.  Geography and    topography  we’ve got   around here. Plenty of it. From  flat lands, to escarpment bluffs, to lighthouses, to “mountains” and towers, Grey Bruce brings new meaning to the term “scenic route.”  But scenic look-out’s are restricted to height - we’ve got plenty of stunning views planted firmly on the shores, too.  Plus - it’s spring (I think). I feel like sharing today. If you’re new to exploring our area, welcome - and good luck...

The best was blowing out his candle with Grandma Yobb. Lawrence Grandparent's skyped in and had a good chat with him too! Loved his choclate cake and ice cream! had a three hour nap after all that fun!

Winter is here!!

Winter is here!!

b2ap3_thumbnail_barclay-snow.jpg
Winter has arrived with it's full force. It did not gently come, it arrives with it's full force and with style. It is very pretty, and hard to remeber that it is only November. We have been using our wood stove to it's advantage and Robin has his snowmobile out and is grooming trails for Barclay to run around on and some of the neighbors to ski on. Only problem is that it will probably melt away this coming weekend and we will have mud and flodding to deal with. ohh well, mother nature likes to put us thru our paces. Dylan is not sure about snow - he likes playing in it - not sure where it disapears to when we bring it in the house. But does not like all the cloths he has to put on to go outside - too restricting - can't move. He loves the sleigh rides around the park and how goofy Barclay gets when we are all outside. Hope eveyone south of us has faired the snow ok.

We had our first Pig Roast at Trillium Woods Campground this last Sat. It was a great success. Many thanks to the Hosts - Keith & Lori, Hank & Darlene. They put alot of work into the event and everyone had a great time. There was lots of food and laughing as the campers enjoyed their roasted supper. During the day alot of people and kids stopped by to take a look. The four legged kids gave the best response, some not so sure what was going on so tried to scare it away with barking! Anyways after we were all full, the host had a draw for some prizes and there were some lucky families that night! And some full tummies! Here are some pictures of the event: 6am: 6pm: the cooks  the food  the pig served the campers
