2017 Halloween

The weather held out for another great evening of trick or treating in camp. There were many witches, grim reapers, super heroes and cute characters wandering around camp. They all seemed to have a great time and enjoyed the many decorated sites and treats being handed out.

I would like to thank all the Volunteer judges. Without you the event would not be successful. Your time was very much appreciated by all.
  • For best decorated site the award went to Tom & Linda B. site 98. Honorable mentions went to Site 54 – Sam, Shawn & Brandi H., and to site B8 – Dawson.
  • Best Adult costume was "Grim Reaper" Nikhil P. Honorable mention when to "Mad hatter" Emily M. & "witch" Lauren S.
  • Best kid costume under 6 went to "Swat policeman" Matthew M. Honorable mention went "Turtle" Mavis H. & " Dragon"- Cater V.
  • Best kid costume between ages 6 – 12 went to the "Stop sign" Kieran W. Honorable mention going to "Cat girls" Grace W. & friend, "Fox" Chloe S. and " Ladybug" Milea H.
  • Best Pet costume went to "Hula dog" - Buddy of the Zurek family. Honorable mention was given to Augie & Bryn of the Spry family – and Barclay the police detective dog.

It was estimated that around 30 kids where running around the park and having a good time. I apologize for not taking more pictures of the kids in costume, in my defense - I was in handcuffs. There was a little trouble with a "swamp man" scaring people, and a jail bird made a break for it in the police golf cart, but all is well again, till next year.
Would like to send a big shout out to P. Little of Precision Craft Laser Engraving, for the plaques. Everyone loves them and loves to see the winner's names on our wall.

It took us a good hour to get around to all the sites, there where that many treats being handed out. A lot of spooky sites as well. It made the judging a little more difficult, but the event a whole lot more fun.

Can't wait to see what next year will bring!

2015 Halloween

There were some spectacularly decorated sites, and very interesting kid and adult costumes which had obviously taken some time and effort to fashion. I was fortunate to be able to circulate around the whole campground, and was impressed with the spirit of fun and camaraderie, and how folks were really getting into the spirit of the event and enjoying each other. The turn out at the Awards Presentation at 8:30pm at the TWC Rec Hall was fabulous, with everyone waning to see who the volunteer Judges had selected. The list of winners is attached. Congratulations to all who participated, and, in particular the Winners. Special thanks go out to all of our volunteers, as without them this event would not have been possible.

Best younger kid costume : N. Mckay " Doggie"

  • Best older kid costume : Ju, Ma & Ja Chretien " Zombie Princesses"
  • Best Pet Costume: "Peaches" A & D Suter " Miss Canine Canada"
  • Best Adult Costume: S & B. Habermell " Dracula & Bride"
  • Best Decorated Site: # 32 F & J Thornton & guests

Special Honourable Mention goes out to:

*Site 101, Medd family as "Batman and Robin Family" costumes; L. Stemmler as the "Banana Lady" at Site #10; N. MacIntyre at Site 72, for the I-Phone costume; Site #38 Littles' for the most gory body parts; and sites 54 Habermell (Green Face RV), 94 Suter(on The Dead End) and 98 Bridges'(Big Cat etc.) for some of the most creatively decorated sites. Even Robin (Prisoner), DeLeigh (Wicked witch of the West), Dylan (Tigor), Barkley (Toto), and R (witch) and S. Lawrence (Clown), got into the act.

In total, 28 sites were observed to have some kind of Halloween decoration, most very well decorated. Those who I spoke to, who had counted the number of participants for "Trick or Treating", or the amount of treats handed out, estimated that we had approximately 65-70 "Trick or Treaters" making the rounds! A number of our more seasoned "seasonals" commented to me that they thought this was one of the most fun Halloween in the Parks they had seen over the years.

Hints for those who want to participate in Halloween in the Park 2016: shop early to avoid the rush! Pick up supplies at the "after real Halloween sales" in October, and check out your local dollar stores! See you at the 2016 Halloween in The Park, Saturday September 3rd! Start planning your costumes and site decorations now!

2013 Halloween

A great time, by young and old, was had by all at the camp Sat. night.

There were a variety costumes wandering around the camp, collecting treats.

A few of the campers dressed up as well and did a great job of decorating their site.

The Wolf was the talk about the camp, as was the shaking skeleton head and errie sounds coming from the trailer.

After there were games held in the hall, were campers enjoyed winning some prizes and laughing together.

The following are some pictures taken around the camp on that scary evening.
