Field Day Fun

field-day-1
Fun was had by all who attended the TWC Field day saturday morning. Games includes, "pool noodle - beach ball polo", target casting (fishing), water balloon catch, balloon race, tug -o- war, and the grand finale -water relay, obstacle race. Barclay and Ruben even had some fun with a bit of soccor playing before retiring to the shade. The boys won a few, but the girls got the most points, even with the tug-0-war. Metals and ribbions were handed out and winners photos taken. We had some great exercise and fun. Thanks to all all who came out to participate and to our volunteer judges Rick & Deb E. Good memories made!

Canada's 150 celebrated

dog-020
Wow - camp was full this weekend and all had a great time celebrating for our nation. Pretty much every site was sporting some flag or decorations for the weekend. Camp was looking pretty spiffy. Our campfire celebration had great attendance, all our 40+ chairs where used from the rec hall. Prizes were awared to people who correctly answered Canadian trivia questions. There where many laughs and a few things learned from the quiz. Some new acqantances were formed and old ones renewed. A good time was had by all! Special thank you to Hank V for being our fire "master" and Deb & Dave H for use of his decorative fire ring.

What another great year for trick or treating at Trillium Woods Campground. There was lots of spooky fun to be had around camp. It took us a good hour to get around to all the sites, there where that many treats being handed out. A lot of spooky sites as well. It made the judging a little more difficult, but the event a whole lot more fun. I would like to thank all the Volunteer judges and photographers. Without you the event would not be successful and a lot less pictures to show. Your time was very much appreciated by all. For best decorated site the awards went to C & B Suter, site 94. Second place went to Site 54 – Habermell’s, with an honorable mention to site 32 – Thornton’s. Best Adult costume was B & S Habermell, who defended their title from last year. Second was R. Major in his Warrior costume. Notable mention when to “Hula Girls” C. Parent & A. Ryan and “Dorothy” C. Zurek. Best kid costume under 6 went to “Pocahontas” (A.Olds), with second going to the “Ice Princess” (A.Woodrow). Honorable mention went to the Dragon (M. Major) who was hanging out with...

Merry New Year !

Merry New Year !

b2ap3_thumbnail_deer.jpg
Looking back at 2015, we had a busy year. We did a lot of upgrades and additions to the campground. Robin and Stuart rebuilt the play set at the beach, we ordered and installed a new play structure for the playground and upgraded a few things around camp. We also got railing added to the front veranda of the house – to serve as an outdoor playpen for Dylan and bug free internet space for our campers. It served its purpose very well. Campers and Dylan spent hours out there. Dylan had a lot of 4- 8 year old girls come to play with him throughout the summer. We had our young lad and teenage babysitter back to help us this summer. Also R & S helped and babysat a fair bit and we were so glad for the extra help, due to the camp being so very busy. We were full most of July and August and this fall have had a number of new seasonal campers sign up, so we will have higher occupancy for next year already. Dylan is keeping us busy too, boy can he move now, and keeps us on our toes. He...

Winter is here!!

Winter is here!!

b2ap3_thumbnail_barclay-snow.jpg
Winter has arrived with it's full force. It did not gently come, it arrives with it's full force and with style. It is very pretty, and hard to remeber that it is only November. We have been using our wood stove to it's advantage and Robin has his snowmobile out and is grooming trails for Barclay to run around on and some of the neighbors to ski on. Only problem is that it will probably melt away this coming weekend and we will have mud and flodding to deal with. ohh well, mother nature likes to put us thru our paces. Dylan is not sure about snow - he likes playing in it - not sure where it disapears to when we bring it in the house. But does not like all the cloths he has to put on to go outside - too restricting - can't move. He loves the sleigh rides around the park and how goofy Barclay gets when we are all outside. Hope eveyone south of us has faired the snow ok.

Maple Syurp @ Trillium Woods

It has been a long winter and we are awaiting the coming spring. We are ready to get back to work to get the camp ready for our campers. To help pass the time, Robin had tapped a few maple trees in the park and has been making maple syurp in the warmer weather. Since we are using the wood stove to heat the house, might as well use it to boil off the sap to make some syurp. It has been a neat process and we are enjoying our pancakes that much more these days as we wait for summer to arrive. You never know, there might be Trullium Woods syurp sold in the coming years.

New Arrival @ Trillium Woods Camp

New Arrival @ Trillium Woods Camp
Dylan Edward Lawrence arrived Dec 19 8:45 pm, 7.7 lbs, 21 in. We have been busy adjusting to our newest member and trying to get some sleep. Even Barclay is tired. B usually stays up with us and gets very concerned when there is excessive crying. Then when we have all settled down for the night, there are four of us on the bed - all cuddling. We look forward to showing off our new "Bundle of Joy" come spring when the campground opens again. Robin is trying to figure out how to secure the baby car seat to the golf cart. Meanwhile we wish everyone Happy Holidays and a Great New Year!!!

Blast from the past and into the future.

Blast from the past and into the future.
Winter is here and the holiday season upon us. Not much news about the campground, just snow to shovel and trees to cut for firewood. This was emailed to us and I thought it would be great to share. It is very interesting how styles have changed over the years and things have gotten more spacious. Click on the link below and we hope you enjoy the pitures as we did. Camping-car-.pps.zip

It is going to be a nice weekend here at Trillium Woods Campground. We are hosting the Fall Potluck supper Sat. Sept. 28 @ 6 pm in the Rec Hall. So far a number of people have signed up, so there should be some great foods to sample. Afterwards we will play games, so it will be a fun evening with food and entertainment. Robin took some great photos the other day of the fall colors on Spry Lake and around the beach. Now is the time to come to the area and see all the bright colors before the trees start losing all their leaves. Also allot of fresh fall produce to be found around. (apples, squash, carrots, potatoes, etc.) P.S. my hands are small, but this is a big leaf!!

5 Reasons I Enjoyed Staying at Trillium Woods Campground #discoverontario

5 Reasons I Enjoyed Staying at Trillium Woods Campground #discoverontario

It's been almost 10 years since I have camped near Sauble Beach , Ontario.  For a variety of reasons our family was unable to make the journey up to this beautiful area of the province during this time.  I truly wish we didn't have to wait so long.  As I continue to fall in love with camping, something we did for about 3 weeks every year when I was growing up, my love for this area of Ontario also continues to grow.   Previous family camping trips to the area meant the familiarity of camping at Sauble Falls Provincial Park .  This is what we did when I was growing up and since I don't typically like change our last trip in the early 2000's had us camped along the Sauble River at the Provincial Park.  Fast forward 10 years and my wife and 4 kids have found a new family favourite in Trillium Woods Campground .   Trillium Woods is efficiently run by a great couple, Robin and DeLeigh Lawrence.  Thanks to the campground owners, I am learning how great private campgrounds can be.  As we camped in late August I reflected on 5 Reasons I Enjoyed Staying at...

Owls around camp near sauble

Owls around camp near sauble
We seem to have a family of small owls that are visiting our seasonals around camp this summer. People are describing them as Screech owls and there seems to be a family of 5. The other night, while visiting a campfire I heard an odd noise coming from close by in the bush. After shining my light around, I came across a small owl in a branch calling out. It did not move. Then we saw a flutter behind us and one landed on the picnic table. It was neat! Robin wandered over to the neighbors lot and I saw him shining his light up into the trees and he highlighted another two above him. So it would seem that the parents are trying to teach their young how to hunt. We have noticed that the chippy's are not quite as numerous and blod in that part of the campground.
